Crowdfunding a tennis event
We look at the importance of ITF Junior events and how crowdfunding can be used to help bring in the money and sponsorship needed to host them.
ITF Junior tournaments are a vital stepping stone for you super talented tennis players, it gives them their first taste of tour life and offers them a chance to compete internationally to build ITF ranking points. There are over 500 tournaments around the world every year including the ITF junior Masters and the 4 Grand Slams. But hosting these tournaments is tough financially as they attract a small fraction of main ATP tour audiences and therefore very little sponsorship.
In June this year we got contacted by Aistis Slajus, a coach from David Lloyd Riverview in Dublin and a tournament director of an Under 18 ITF event. Like all tennis events, the inaugural ITF ‘Get a grip” tournament needed to raised money and get some commercial sponsors in to be able to host the event. Given that tennis is one of the most popular sports on PledgeSports, of course we wanted to help!

Crowdfunding a tennis event
We helped Aistis set up a page then market it to club members which were excited to have a high profile tennis event at the club and backed it accordingly! The tennis event crowdfunding page raised €1,460 but more importantly helped market and create awareness for the event. The event managed to raise around 8k in total and brought in some great sponsors like VitHit drinks, Life Pharmacy and S&F foods. PledgeSports have now helped tennis players and events all around the world raise well over 100K.
