What music is best for casino gaming

If there is one thing that can get you in the mood for taking down bosses or just cruising around exploring places – it is music. Game developers know how important music is, and so they ensure that the music for each area and each task is going to give you a great experience.

But what if you skip their music and choose your own? What if you want to have music that keeps you focused, hyped and ready to take a big win on the poker table?

When it comes to playing online casino games with Virgin Games, instead of relying on the game developers to know what you like – here are some suggestions for your playlist.

Why does gaming music matter?

There is more to a game than the story and the graphics. A great game will have a thoughtful and carefully curated musical backdrop too. The music in the background is great for almost all RPGs and action-adventure games.

But if you want to focus on your poker game?

Music has a huge impact on how people play. Slower music is relaxing and can help you to focus on the task you are performing. In contrast, higher beats per minute get us excited and ready for action.

So let’s get into which music track is best (even a bit obvious) for which game; of course, you’ll need to build out the rest of the playlist.

Roulette

You spin me right round, baby, right round! A song that gets stuck in your brain for sure. Dead or Alive’s You Spin Me Round could be the best opening track if you love to play roulette. Is it a little cheesy? Yes, but it certainly matches the game!

If you choose other tracks that match the beats per minute, you will have an upbeat, happy, and very 80s-focused playlist.

Casino party

If you are having a themed party, and casino games and glitz and glam are the focus, then what better song to have on a playlist than Viva Las Vegas by Elvis?

As the lyrics Vivvvaaa Las Vegas ring out, people will be more than a little willing to start throwing dice, stacking chips and trying to work out the wrinkles in their tells.

Another great track for a casino party? The classic Luck Be A Lady – Frank Sinatra. There are more than a few rumours that Sinatra, the mob and the casino were all closely linked through the 50s and 60s.

Frank was often booked to bring a crowd and given preferential treatment due to how much cash he brought in.

All that aside, Luck Be A Lady is a classic casino track.

Poker

Most of the time, you aren’t going to want to play upbeat music because most people find calming binaural better for concentration – and most card games demand some attention. But there are a couple of songs that are catchy and suit poker and other card games perfectly.

Ace of spades by Motorhead might be overdone when it comes to card games like poker, but there are plenty of covers that are a little more relaxed. But if you like your poker playing intense, upbeat and with a bit of an edge – create a playlist based around this song, and you are on to a winner.

Juice Newton makes this list for the classic Queen of Hearts; it’s upbeat and has a nice fast and playful tempo, perfect for that winning moment – or getting you hyped up and ready to play.

Horses (or dogs)

Although the track is really talking about horse racing rather than than going to the dogs, it’s definitely one for those who like a flutter on the ponies. The Galway Races by the Dubliners is a nice reminder that some of the best horses have come from Ireland – and in fact, the roots of horse racing and Ireland run deep.

If you haven’t heard it yet, it’s catchy, and after one listens, you’ll be humming it for the rest of the week.

Dangerous Players

While no one is going to condone card cheats or playing on the edge of what is acceptable – if you fancy yourself a bit of a risk taker, and once those cards are in your hand, you’re ready to go full tilt then The Card Cheat by The Clash might be the track for you.

Although the tracks warn of what might happen if you decide to go down that route in the wrong company, it’s a catchy, moody track – and can get you in the mood for playing a few rounds of tough cards.

Slow and Steady

If you like your tracks a little more country and with a relaxed vibe, here are a couple of songs that are worth adding to your gaming playlist.

First up is the Rambling, Gambling Willie by Bob Dylan; it’s a tale of someone who plays their way through bad luck and many towns in America. Perhaps a nice reminder that after you win or lose, it’s a good idea to take a pause.

And, to add to the relaxed casino gaming sessions, The Gambler by Kenny Rogers. The key line is ‘the secret to surviving is knowing what to throw away and what to keep. Perhaps one of the most important things that players learn when they start playing cards!

Next time you are planning an evening of enjoyment, set up the perfect playlist to compliment the games you intend on playing.
