Aintree Grand National 2023 In Focus

It’s one of the most iconic horse races in the world, with an audience of over 7.5 Million tuning in from all over the globe. The Aintree Grand National is the showpiece of jump racing in the UK and Ireland and provides an experience like no other when it comes to the sport of horse racing.

With 40 horses lining up to tackle some of the largest fences in jump racing, it takes a special type of equine talent to win a race like the Grand National, particularly when you factor in the distance of over 4 miles that competitors must travel.

Since 1839 fans have been flocking to the Aintree racecourse in Liverpool, England, and in 2023 another bumper crowd is expected.

2023 Grand National Main Contenders

The Aintree Grand National is one of the most difficult races to win for any horse, but it can also be a conundrum for bettors that are looking to find a potential victor. The race is a favorite amongst those fans that like to bet on horses online, with the likes of defending champion, priced this year at 8/1, Noble Yeats, being one of six winners priced over 25/1 to win the race in the last ten years.

Below we look at some of the horses that will be lining up in the great race this season.

Noble Yeats

When it comes to betting odds in the race, Noble Yeats’ victory at 50/1 last year proved that anything can happen in the rough-and-tumble action of the Grand National. Noble Yeats will once again be lining up in 2023, as he looks to become one of the very few horses that have achieved back-to-back wins.

The Irish-trained horse has endured a mixed warm-up for this year’s renewal with some decent performances throughout the season until he failed to flatter in the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Corach Rambler

Another horse that will head to Aintree after a visit to the Cheltenham Festival is the enigmatic character that is Corach Rambler. In contrast to Noble Yeats, Corach Rambler was successful at Cheltenham for the second year in a row, and although he has never tackled the big fences of the Grand National before, and he has plenty of quirks, he is expected to put in a big performance in the Aintree showpiece.

Delta Work

Another horse that will be arriving at Aintree after a second successive Cheltenham Festival win is last year’s Grand National third, Delta Work. One of the toughest horses in jump racing, Delta Work showed last year that he has what it takes to be competitive in this race, and it would be a surprise were he not to run another very big race in 2023.

Some Outsiders To Consider

As stated, picking a potential winner of the Grand National is one of the toughest tests for bettors to work out. The three horses mentioned above are all well-fancied to make a splash at Aintree in 2023, but there are some big-priced outsiders that are also worth considering.

Ashtown Lad (33/1) and Remastered (40/1) are two such outsiders that are likely to outrun their odds, and if you are a fan of picking names as a way of finding a winner, then the likes of, The Big Dog (25/1), Mr Incredible (12/1), or Minella Trump (50/1), might be the ones for you.
