Cameron And Taylor Set for Explosive Female Bout

Chantelle Cameron and Katie Taylor are set to meet in the ring for the second time in 2023, with the bout being recognized as one of the biggest events in female boxing history.

Cameron, who won the first bout earlier this year, is the undisputed light welterweight champion as she holds all four major belts (WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO). In contrast, Taylor, who has lost just once in the span of her entire career (to Cameron), is the undisputed lightweight champion.

There’s so much on the line for both boxers in the sold-out rematch at the 3Arena in Dublin. With the winner set to become the pound-for-pound number one in women’s boxing, it’s all to fight for.

Cameron Favorite in The Betting

Cameron, the undisputed light welterweight champion, is currently the favorite. She’s priced at -175, according to the outright markets for Chantelle Cameron vs Katie Taylor odds. This is somewhat unsurprising given the outcome of the last meet – two of the three judges scored the fight in her favor.

For those who bet on boxing, Taylor is currently the +125 underdog. One advantage she’ll have over Cameron is the unwavering support of the home crowd, who’ll be rallying passionately as she bids to become a world champion in a whopping three different weight categories.

Ultimately, there was very little between the two boxers in their first showdown, with one of the three judges scoring it as a draw. As a result, both fighters will have to take some serious learnings from their previous bout and push for victory in the upcoming re-match.

Taylor Has the Chance to Make History

Since turning professional in 2016, Taylor has had a lot of success in the ring including the classification as undisputed champion, reaching the number one spot in the pound-for-pound rankings, and selling out some huge arenas around the world.

Should she defeat Cameron in her latest assignment, it would be the biggest success of her career. She would become just one of only two male or female boxers to hold all four major belts in two weight divisions simultaneously, matching what Claressa Shields achieved in 2021.

The 37-year-old, who is considered one of Ireland’s greatest sportspeople, is at the back end of her career now, so a second consecutive defeat may leave her considering retirement, although Taylor has refused to think about the prospect of losing again.

Cameron Promising a More Emphatic Victory

Britain’s Cameron went into her first fight with Taylor as a late replacement for Amanda Serrano but has proven her worth – she thoroughly deserves her place at the top of the bill.

Cameron believes the victory in her favor will be even wider this time around. She’s hoping for a knockout victory, rather than waiting to see which way the judges score it in Dublin.

The undercard for Cameron-Taylor II also includes Gary Cully’s clash with Reece Mould for the European title and a fight between Skye Nicolson and Lucy Wildheart for the vacant WBC interim featherweight crown.
