Hello!
My name is Forrester Osei. I am a professional Olympic Weightlifter from Crystal Palace, London. This is my second year as a weightlifter competing for Ghana and third year in the sport.
ACHIEVEMENT TO DATE
Gold Medallist – Commonwealth Championship 2016 ( Qualified for the 2018 commonwealth games)
Currently ranked Number 1 in Ghana for Olympic weightlifting ( 3years undefeated)
Bronze Medallist English Championship – 2016 Leeds
World championship qualifier – All African Games 2015 in Congo
Prior to weightlifting, I played American Football for 8 years at Club and college level and developed a will power in training. The transition to Olympic weightlifting came naturally, as I already had the high physical and mental aptitude the sport demands.
UP-COMING COMPETITIONS
Commonwealth Championship September 2017 (Gold coast, Australia)
World Championship November 2017 (Anaheim, USA)
English Championship (TBC)
Commonwealth games April 2018 (Gold Coast, Australia)
British Championship (TBC)
AND ALL MAJOR NATIONAL COMPETITIONS IN 2017/18
My immediate goal is maintaining my qualification for the 2018 Commonwealth games and 2017 World Championship in Anaheim (USA) to reach the top 15 in the world, here I can go on to compete in leagues and tournament’s within and outside of Europe.
To compete at the 2018 Commonwealth games, I need to be ranked in the top 15 Commonwealth rankings, where I am currently ranked 5th. I aim to improve on my current rankings by September at the Commonwealth Championship in Gold Coast (Australia).
Success in any sport requires full participation in all major national and international competition and in the past i have missed out on major competitions due to expensive long haul flights and other official expenses. At present, I do not receive any athletic funding from anyone or any funding body. I currently work as part time Fitness instructor and train 5 – 6 days a week, this allows me the flexibility and time commitment required to participate in all competitions. The downside to this arrangement is the financial remuneration is unsustainable.
This outlines the need for Financial support, to get me to the next level and increase my chances of securing a medal at the 2018 games.
This campaign is my only chance to receive funding for these competitions and for the year.
All contributions make a huge difference to my journey and is massively appreciated!
