Astra HC is an Olympic Handball Club founded in 2007 with the purpose of developing Olympic Handball in the  Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County in Ireland.

Through the past few years we worked on consolidating our senior team and the Club structure.  As a club we believe in a very simple mission statement. ASTRA HC support and focus on : PEOPLE – EDUCATION – PERFORMANCE.

We supported our players and members to expand their education in the general field of sport and  supported them in getting qualifications in  club administration, refereeing and coaching.

The club is now ready to take on the next challenge and revitalise the youth section by introducing the NOVI GALAXIAE project.

ASTRA is latin for STAR, and NOVI GALAXIAE is latin for NEW GALAXIES. The project in fact looks into the creation and expansion of new underage teams, and find new future stars of Handball.

The club is offering training sessions to U13 and U15 players and is looking for funding to contribute to the payment of the project’s costs.  Among the most significant costs  is rent for the sport hall, the  purchase of basic materials such as balls, training bibs, training T-shirts and sweaters, and playing uniforms.

All our coaches work on a volunteer basis, but the club wishes to be able to provide refunds.

Our Junior teams train every Tuesday and Thursday at 4.45pm  in the Ballinteer Community School, Dublin.
