Support

Hi,

Thank you, for taking the time to read my page. I am thrilled that there are people out there who may wish to support me and help me achieve my goal of competing in the Winter Olympics.

The sport of Skeleton consists of lying on a sled, (best described as a tea tray), and going downhill head first on sheet ice. With my face being only an inch off the ice and no brakes it means that I am able to reach speeds of up to 140 kph and experience forces reaching 5G. The sport is a pure adrenaline rush, which becomes more addictive with each run.

My target is to raise £2,500. Any money contributed will go towards UK travel, living expenses and equipment for training. This will allow me more time and flexibility to concentrate on being the best athlete that I can be.

About Me

I am 21 yrs old and have recently finished attending university in Bristol where I studied for and achieved a Degree in Economics.

Up until skeleton, my main sport from an early age has been competitive dinghy sailing. Through hard work and determination, I have represented Great Britain twice as part of the British Team and have been fortunate enough to achieve a podium finish at a World Championship, which also helped me win a university sports bursary.

Having gained good results in sailing and still competing at a high level, I have always been interested to know what other sports I could potentially excel at which could take me to an Olympic games.

Whilst in my final year, I was put into the DiscoverYourPower talent search by my university’s centre for sport. The talent search consisted of numerous testing phases and eliminations culminating in a final two-week camp in Igls, Austria, which was where I first experienced the ice.

The whole talent search process vigorously tested my physical and mental ability in order to make sure I have what it takes to become an Olympic champion in the sport of skeleton. Once completed I was admitted onto the British Skeleton talent programme.

Being identified as having potential in a new and exciting sport has reignited that drive and desire to reach an Olympics. It is an opportunity I wish to embrace whole heartily.

My Goal

Great Britain’s skeleton athletes have medalled at every games that the sport has featured. It is my dream and now my goal to emulate my predecessors and win a gold medal for Team GB at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.

The Program produces champions so I am confident that in five years I will have a strong chance to be on that podium. I currently do not receive any financial assistance for living costs, so to continue on this journey and move closer towards my goal I am looking for financial assistance.

Many thanks again for taking the time to look at my page and helping me towards my ultimate goal of competing at the Beijing Olympics in 2022.
