40,000 Miles

My name is Roseann Mc Glinchey, 23 from Donegal and I am now on my way to sailing 40,000 nautical miles in a circumnavigation of the world!

The Clipper race is an 11-month ocean yacht race that travels around the globe stopping at 14 ports along the way – so far the ports announced include Sydney, Cape Town, Seattle, Qingdao, New York and Derry.

I have to complete a month of rigorous training before my departure in August where I will learn to live in the testing conditions on board an ocean racing yacht.

A fleet of 12 yachts will leave on the 20th August from Liverpool and spend the next year racing 5 oceans. This will be an endurance test that will push my physical and mental limits to the limit. You can find out more about the race and the route here: www.clipperroundtheworld.com.

The cost of the trip is around £49500 to do the required training and race and I need a little help achieve this goal. I am currently fundraising my butt off to try and raise this money to date I have done Princess Balls, car boot sales, Masquerade Ball and Nights at the Races to raise £12000.
