My name is Lucy Marshall and I’m a mother of two boys who are both now in the early stages of secondary school. I work part-time as a personal trainer so that I can be available to care for my elder son who has learning and other disabilities.
I have thrown the hammer since I was a teenager and, in recent years, have become one of Britain’s top throwers achieving England representation in 2016 and 2018 despite some health issues along the way.
Last year I was ranked as UK no. 1 in the W35 Masters Weight Throw and Weight Pentathlon, breaking British records in both the throws pentathlon and weight throw on a number of occasions. I was also ranked in the top 3 in World and European lists. I am currently ranked no. 1 in the UK for W35 Masters hammer.
Although I am now 37, I’ve never yet been able to attend the European or World Masters’ Championships due mainly to dealing with childcare and the costs involved because attendance at these events is entirely self-funded.
I am now hoping to raise funds to allow me to compete at the European Masters Championship in Venice in September this year as I believe I have a realistic chance of challenging for a medal in the Throws Pentathlon, Weight Throw and Hammer events. Any funding I raise will go towards the costs of buying the required British kit and paying the entrance fees, flights and accommodation.
Thank you for reading and support,
