Since the age of 8 I have played table tennis.
Since the Age of 10 I have been involved with the Irish national table tennis team.
From the ages of 10 up to 24, along with the continued support of my parents I have funded everything I’ve done in Table Tennis, and everything I’ve achieved to date, myself.
With a lack of support and funding available for a minority sport like table tennis, I have had to pay to play for Ireland up to six times every year, including at the World, European and 6 Nations Championships.
More About Me
I am currently a member of the Irish Men’s table tennis team, which means I am one of the top 3 players in the country.
My World ranking is 496 and by the end of the new Season, I hope to be within the top 400, and the year after that the top 300.
Your support would enable me to go the events such as the World, European and 6 Nations Championships without the financial struggle. In turn this would enable me to better invest my personal money into other events to help me climb up the rankings.
Every year I spend around €2,000 of my own money to represent Ireland at these 3 tournaments, forgetting anything else I must play in throughout the year to stay sharp, maintain my ranking and be selected for Ireland.
I train hard, and I dedicate my life to my sport. . .
Where you come in
I have never received any type of funding or financial support from any agency and, as I’m 24 now, I can no longer rely on my parents to pay the extensive amounts of money it takes to represent Ireland.
This is why I am asking for help. Please help me to continually represent my country at, World, European and domestic level.
Thank you,
Gavin
