North East and County Durham Women’s Golf was setup in early 2017.  After taking up the game in 2016 I struggled to find like minded lady golfers to play golf with.  I then tried to find a group but to no avail.  That was when I then decided I would start a group of my own, with the aim of getting lady golfers of all levels in the North East together to play some golf.

The group started with only about 6 people including myself, and we were all new to the game and still learning.  Through word of mouth, and people finding us through Facebook, the group went from strength to strength and within the first year gained another 218 members, consisting of new and experienced players.  We also have a number of Professional golfers in the group who offer advice, information and lessons to our members.  We also get together frequently for games and group lessons, but the option is also there to arrange games of your own with the people you meet through the group.

This group has done a great job so far of getting more ladies playing golf, and if I’m honest is the reason I’m still playing and didn’t give up on the game in the early stages of learning.

I would love to offer more next year and get the materials we need to get the group advertised more and host more events for 2019, Every penny counts.
