Support
Hello there,
And welcome to my pledge page.
For those who read and supported my previous campaign, thank you and welcome back. For those who are new, welcome and thank you for visiting.
So for those who don’t know I’m Rachel and was selected to be part of the GB Skeleton Talent Squad earlier this year after 4 phases of testing/observations as part of the ‘Discover Your Gold’ talent ID campaign. Back in June I moved to Bath (home of British Skeleton) in order to train full time on their World Class Performance Programme. Thanks to the support I received last time, I have been able to commit and train hard towards the ultimate goal of Gold at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. Summer training is going really well, I’m already making huge improvements, and really looking forward to getting back on the ice next month to start off the winter season!
However, in order to do that I first must purchase a helmet. Skeleton involves travelling on a sled headfirst on ice at high speeds whilst experiencing high G-Forces, with your chin just cm’s off the ice. Therefore a helmet is extremely important for our safety, and so basically without one I will not be able to slide. As an unfunded athlete, I also work part-time to help support myself. Yet over the winter when on ice camps, I will be relying heavily on what I have saved as I won’t have any income whilst away. Which is why I am asking for your help.
Please if you can, make a pledge (however small) and help me fund that helmet. Any extra that might be raised will be used to support me over the winter season. The support last time was just incredible and has enabled me to get this far. With your support I can keep my skeleton journey going and Olympic dream alive!
Thank you for taking the time to read about my story. If you’re interested and want to keep track of my journey you can follow me on twitter or Facebook.
Thank you again for your support
Rachel
