Hi! Im Amy, first of all thank you for visiting my page and reading my story.
I have been competing in Athletics since I was 11 years old, I first started with shot putt and quickly moved onto hammer throwing after meeting my coach Ray Scovell through the Isle of Wight Athletics Club. Since then it has been a whirl wind of training and competitions, which brings me to this campaign that I have set up to assist me in funding my place for the Natwest Island Games in Gotland this year, representing the Isle of Wight.
The Natwest Island Games happen once every two years, thousands of athletes from around the world gather to compete in a range of sports. The games which are often known as the ‘Mini Olympics’ has not only seen me travel to some wonderful islands but also has allowed me to produce some of my longest throws.
Gotland will see me attend my 8th games with hopes of success in retaining my title that I have won a total of four times including two games records.
My games history is as follows:
Isle of Man-2001-4th
Guernsey-2003-2nd
Shetland-2005-1st with Games Record
Rhodes-2007-1st with Games Record
Aland-2009-2nd
Isle of Wight-2011-1st
2013- No Hammer competition
Jersey-2015-1st
I consider myself very lucky to be able to compete in such an experience such as Island Games but as I am sure you can imagine this comes with travel expenses and kit costs which currently stand at over £1000 and in current economic climates this is becoming increasingly difficult to self fund.; which is where I need your help. If you could spare any donation to help me get to Gotland it would be gratefully received.
Thank you for your time and support and I hope to bring back great news from Gotland.
