About Us

Red Rose Rafting Team was formed in 2009 by a group of friends that really enjoyed outdoor activities. We are based throughout Lancashire and the North of England.  We continue to grow and currently have 12 paddlers that raft for the team.  With the adrenaline of white water rafting and team mentality, we have taken part in competitions held by British Rafting. These events take place throughout the year and are held at a number of white water centres in the UK including the National White Water Centre Nottingham and the Olympic Lee Valley White Water Centre in London.

Throughout the years our team has paddled hard and trained a number of times with the past Great British teams.  Which has helped develop our team and spur us on to achieve greater results.

Our Success

In early March the British Rafting selection was held at the National White Water centre. The competition was to determine which teams will represent Great Britain in future International Events.  The competition consisted of 4 elements:  Sprint, Head to Head, Slalom and Endurance all which had aspects of flat water and white water.

After paddling very hard throughout the weekend we were successful at retaining the number 2 spot in the open women’s category. This entitles us to represent Great Britain at the European Championships in Georgia 20th -28th May,  alongside the selected GBR1 Women,  GBR1 & 2 Men, Under 21s, Under 23s and the GBR  Men’s Masters team.

Now and The Future

We are currently training hard and in search for funding and sponsorship, due to the nature of the sport, it is a self-funded competition. We have a long way to go in our bid to get to the European Championships.

Each rafter has to cover training and entry fees, kit, flights, accommodation and more. We estimate that this will cost each paddler around £600. Your support would, therefore, make a real difference to every member of the team.

Our initial fundraising target is £500. This will contribute towards each player’s costs. We would love to raise more than this, though, so hopefully, we can increase our target as we receive your generous donations!

We have set amounts of donations that you can choose each with their own reward, you can donate anonymously if you wish. If you would like to discuss a potential offer of additional funding please contact us via https://www.facebook.com/RedRoseRapidsRafting
