Hi, My name is Sam Kiloh.
I am 22 years old and a professional golfer from Aberdeen, Scotland.
I started playing golf at the age of 11 after I broke my leg playing football. At that time I would never have thought of becoming a professional golfer. I loved football and that was the dream. After a few other injuries playing football I thought it was for the best to stop. So I started playing golf to help my fitness and for fun, of course. I got addicted to the game and my handicap started falling down quickly and then all of a sudden a few years ago I had offers from universities in America for a scholarship.
I was planning to go over to America to do the scholarship but after a lot of thinking I decided that all I wanted to do was play golf full time. I was lucky enough to get help from The Paul Lawrie Foundation and be given the opportunity to play full time.
I turned Professional in 2014 where I played on a variety of different tours, just trying to find my feet. I played a handful of events on the Pro Golf Tour in Morocco and Germany, then a few events on the Europro tour in Scotland and then went off to Dubai at the end of the year to play on the MENA Tour in the Arabic states. This was a great experience.
I struggled a little in 2014 to get to grips with the tour life, so I decided that in 2015 I would stick to one tour. This helped me feel more comfortable and concentrate on my game.
In 2015 I played the winter events on the Pro golf tour to prepare for The Europro Q school. I entered the Europro Q school in March/April and I got my Europro card. I finished in the top 20 at the final stage of Q school. It was a real shock for me playing a full season of professional golf and noticing the difference between that and the amateur game. I only made a few cuts on the Europro that year. So I changed my regime. I did a lot more work in the gym as I realised how much that can help. I worked with a golf physio and a personal trainer to come up with a golf specific program. My practice routine changed too, both the quantity and variability of it.
This year I played a full season on The Pro Golf Tour comfortably keeping my card for next year. I feel like my golf and mental game has come on leaps and bounds this year and would love to keep trying to climb the ladder to get onto the European tour.
I went to the European Tour school for the first time this year. I got through Stage 1 at Roxburgh in Scotland then went on to the second stage in Spain in early November where unfortunately the dream came to an end this year. I didn’t qualify to get to the final stage to compete for my European tour card.
My plans for next year are to play a full season on the Pro Golf Tour again. Where I would be hoping to get into the top 5 of the order of merit. This would give me playing rights on the challenge tour in 2018. I also plan to give the European Tour school another shot at the end of the year.
Any support you could give me towards my 2017 season would be much appreciated as I believe I can take my career to the next level but I need some help to do so.
Please help me achieve my goal and I won’t let you down. Thank you for reading my page and remember any contributions big or small means a lot. Please share this page anyway you can to get the word out.
Many thanks,
Sam
