Hi there, welcome to my funding page!
Firstly you may be wondering what Skeleton is all about…
Skeleton is a fast paced sport that is full of adrenaline, where we lie head first on a sled down an ice track reaching speeds of up to 140kph!
I have recently been selected onto the British Skeleton Talent Squad and I am aiming to compete at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing and progress to win gold in the future. Your support will help me achieve my ultimate goal.
I would like to raise £2500 to assist with my living costs as I relocate to Bath to train full-time over the summer months, as I do not receive any funding for the first 2 years.
My Story
I am 21 years old and I’m just beginning my Skeleton career with the hope of pursuing my dream of competing at the Olympic Games. I am moving to Bath at the end of June to begin training.
Before Skeleton I was a county and university level tennis player and I have just completed a degree at Sheffield Hallam University studying Sport and Exercise Science. However, I realised that I wanted a new sporting challenge and had potential so signed up for the UK Sport Talent ID campaign ‘Discover Your Gold’.
I went through 4 separate phases of testing consisting of physical, mental and sliding ability on ice. Eventually, I was selected from 3500 other applicants onto the Talent Squad. Having recently been on the ice for the first time, I found a passion for the sport and can’t wait to get started in July!
My first season on ice will be focused on learning all about sliding and experiencing new tracks around the world. This will prepare me to achieve my goal of representing Great Britain and hopefully competing at the Olympic Games in 2022.
I am entering into a World Class Programme that has shown continuous success, winning medals in every Olympics since Skeleton was added, including two golds. I am confident that I can achieve my goal with my passion and determination in addition to the strong support team that surround me.
Thanks for reading, I would be really grateful for your support along this journey.
