Support

Hi,

My name is Lucy Brown and tennis has been major part of my life since I was 9. My parents are farmers who have always played tennis socially which is how I came to love the game.

My tennis started in my home county of Oxfordshire and I moved onto the LTA academy in Loughborough followed by Bisham Abbey High Performance Centre when Loughborough closed.

had an excellent coach at Bisham in Farid Bentaous and I moved with him to train in Spain, but due to high expenses out there I then decided it was best to return to train in the UK at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton.

After suffering from a couple of freak injuries I am now back fully training and really enjoying my tennis at Gosling High Performance Centre.

I have a full time training schedule which starts at 8am each day for 6 days a week when not competing.  A normal day consists of two tennis sessions plus additional strength and conditioning sessions. We also incorporate sessions off court where I analyse my most recent matches to know exactly what to work on during practice.

Junior Tennis

I had many successes as a junior and represented Great Britain on many occasions at U14, U16 and U18 age groups.

Highlights of mine include playing at Junior Wimbledon and having the support of the British public, including playing doubles with my friend Laura Robson.

After reaching a world ranking of 84 I left juniors a year early to make the transition into the women’s circuit.

I had a great start to my professional tennis career and qualified as the youngest Brit and the only unranked player in the women’s qualifying for the Wimbledon Championships in 2010.

I have since won 6 ITF Pro Circuit Doubles Titles and have reached a career-high ranking of 540 in singles and 397 in doubles.

I know I can improve on this and, with the help of the great team I am surrounded by at Gosling, I feel very optimistic for what lies ahead.

The Future

It was only when I was forced to take some time off with a stress fracture in my foot that I truly realised how much I love playing tennis. I found it really hard not being able to keep improving my game by training and competing and subsequently watched my ranking drop, so it was very important to me that I managed my recovery well to enable my body to cope with the rigours of the professional tour.

My priority became finding a training base which could support my goal of being a Grand Slam Tennis Player. Working with the coaches at Gosling has allowed me to be the fittest I have ever been and I am now very confident that my body is able to rise to the challenge of the  WTA tennis tour.

With my coaches I have planned a tournament schedule for the remaining part of the year with the goal of setting a new career high by the end of 2015.

In 2016 I aim to have a ranking which will allow me to compete at a Grand Slam level. To be able to fulfil this plan I need to play a minimum of 20 events this year, so I am currently playing grass court events in the lead up to  Wimbledon Qualifying.

Any money I raise through this campaign will enable me to play more tournaments around the world, in the hope that I will set a new career high on my pathway to Grand Slams in 2016.

I give 100% to everything I do and will endeavor to make you proud of your support.

Thanks for taking the time to read my campaign,

Lucy
