Target Gold Coast 2022
Before we get going I would like to introduce you to Peter and proud Father Brian Cassidy above; it will become a bit clearer in a minute.
My name is Stephen Mc Cluskey and I am the Head Coach of The Judo Academy. We have launched this campaign as we would like support to develop some of our young athletes to challenge for the right to represent our country at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
The Judo Academy is a very popular Judo club in Northern Ireland. It’s open for all age groups and we run classes at 10 locations throughout the province. The club has been running for nearly 9 years and in that time we have grown to over 500 different members – aged from 5 – 55 years – who come along to our training sessions.
We are very proud of our achievements and the hard work of a lot of people connected with the club that has led to great success on a community level.
We have recently had one of our teenage members, Peter Cassidy, compete at the British Schoolboy Championships at EIS Sheffield, where he won a Bronze Medal – which is a great achievement (picture above).
We passionately believe that we have some of the best young talent in judo, players that are capable of competing at, and winning medals at, major championships.
While my team of coaches are some of the best in the business at coaching Judo; we recognise that to give us the best chance of achieving our goal and getting a representative at the 2022 Commonwealth Games we need to bring some additional expertise into the club.
There are however many expenses connected with bringing in specialist strength and conditioning support.
We have produced this short video to give you an insight into our club and hope that you can kindly make a small donation to help us raise £2,000 to introduce a high performance programme into the club.
This initiative will enable members to benefit from strength and conditioning, performance analysis, recovery therapies to include massage, hot/cold contrast, ice baths plus other services such as lactate blood analysis, fitness screening and monitoring; all without the personal financial strain.
£2,000 would fund 6 young athletes for a year, so the more we raise the more athletes we can expose to this level of specialist support.
We do hope that this is something you might be willing to support and thank you very much for taking the time to watch our video and read our message
